SPRING SHOW RESULTS 2007
ROSE SHOW RESULTS
Our June show was small but still had a nice display of roses. Once again we held it on
the Bidwell Campus. Our total entries were just 214. We had 21 great arrangements
for the public to vote on, which included 6 novice arrangements by the Bidwell
Students. Dick and Evelyn Oberlander almost swept the Court. Their Moonstone
made a very nice Queen, their Dublin was a very worthy Princess, and their
Crystalline came in as Prince. Larry Grundler managed to sneak in his Uncle Joe as
the King.
In the miniatures, John Consigliero’s Hilde was a lovely Queen and Dolores
Howley’s Glowing Amber was a fitting King. Soroptomist International entered by
Georgie Papale made a very nice Princess and Dorothy Zenkevich rounded out the
Court with Pierrine as Prince.
The remaining trophy winners were as follows:

In the Challenge Classes,
Dick & Evelyn Oberlander’s entry of Bobby Charlton, Uncle Joe & Joyfulness won
Challenge Class I (3 matched HT/GR, different varieties).
Challenge Class II (1 HT bloom, 1GR bloom, 1 FL bloom) had no winner.
The vase of roses, Challenge Class III (6 or more HT/GR in 1 vase) was won by Dick &
Evelyn Oberlander.
The Challenge Class IV trophy (1 bud, 1 exhibition stage, 1 open bloom) was won by
John Consigliero with his entry of Elina.
Challenge Class V (6 or more specimen blooms), Dorothy Zenkevich’ Hot Tamale
Challenge Class VI (3 minis, 1 variety 3 stages). Odessa, grown by Dorothy Zenkevich
Class VII English Box. No entry
Challenge Class VIII ( Best Mini English Box) was won by Dorthy Zenkevich with a
display of 6 lovely Jean Kennealys.
Challenge Class IX) taken by Dick & Evelyn Oberlander won the for a Moonstone
Challenge Class X( the best Mini Floater) to Dick & Evelyn Oberlander for Linville.
Challenge XI ( best Rose in a Frame ) taken by Larry Grundler for Olympiad
Challenge Class XII (best mini Rose in a Frame) to Dolores Howley with Giggles.
Challenge Class XIII (Artist’s Palette) was won by John Consigliero.
The arrangements voted on by the public, awarded
the blue ribbon First Place to Betty Monyok for both the large arrangement and for the
mini arrangement.
Dick and Evelyn Oberlander won the large sweepstakes and John Consigliero won
the mini sweepstakes.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE WINNERS AND THANKS TO ALL THE
PARTICIPANTS.
